South Asian
Friendship Center

A positive and active presence in the heart of Chicago’s Little India,
proclaiming the uniqueness of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

About Us...

Welcome to the SAFC!

We are located in the heart of Chicago’s Little India — an ethnically diverse neighborhood of people from India and Pakistan, as well as from Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan. Our community is comprised of many Muslims and Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Christians, and more.

The South Asian Friendship Center is a Christian bookstore where one can browse books, make photocopies, fax or access the internet. We have free wifi and always have a hot cup of chai ready for visitors.

It is our desire to express the love of Jesus Christ to our neighbors, often through the services we provide for our community. Helping people find new life, forgiveness, and victory through Jesus Christ is what drives us.

If you are from the community and are looking for welcoming neighbors, or if you want to come and partner with us in sharing the love of Jesus, let us know. If you would like more information on what we believe, feel free to click here.

The South Asian Friendship Center has been called “the best place to make friends in Little India.” A great place to be for conversation, drinking chai, reading a book, or just relaxing. While we offer many services to the community, we seek to foster a safe place for friendship in a South Asian cultural setting. Our dedicated staff of true Christians is available to listen to your concerns, to help where we can, and to pray with you and for you. We offer complimentary chai (tea) daily.

Have a free cup of chai and browse books in English and various languages of South Asia. Our bookstore offers Holy Scripture, and other media resources in in a number of South Asian languages, in addition to English materials. Many books and a library of family and children’s DVDs are available for free check out.

We do not sell books online, but if you are looking for good resources in South Asian languages, please visit Multi-Language Media.
